What I’ve been up to

In between being a mom to a very active three year old, working for our church, leading a group of 6-10 teenagers and ringing in a handbell choir I freelance. I don’t so much call it freelancing because it is basically me trying to build my portfolio of digital art in a creative fashion. I get the opportunity to work with some awesome people.

For the last 6 months (seriously it normally doesn’t take me this long to do a project) I’ve been working on one website. It was a monster of a project. Not because what the client wanted, but just fitting it in around my already busy schedule. Add to that the client was also an artist and it made for a fantastic collaborative effort.

So check out Willow’s new and improved blog here (it isn’t showing right in IE because of the photo width, that will be fixed later). And if you want even more fancy web design fun check out her splash page here. But hurry, because as soon as the FedEx man arrives I’ll be changing it. I did all of this in the form of trade. That whole exchanging goods for services thing. Yeah, that. She photographed my family and I gave her a website. Works out great for the both of us. Not to mention I got a great friend out of the whole thing.

Not only have I been working on Willow’s site, I’ve been doing a logo for another local photographer (it’s just not finished yet) and I was asked by Tacoma Chickadee herself if I would be interested in creating some posters for Tacoma Gardens (a community gardening project here in Tacoma). I’m doing a series of them. Here are the first two in the series. They aren’t 100% done, but I thought I’d give you a sneak preview.

  2. Great job on the website! It’s fab. Great pictures, too, BTW.

Love the service for service trade. I’ve often thought of that, but in my trade (ob/gyn), wonder if I’d have any takers (free pap smear, hysterectomy, anyone? lol)
