Lauri, gently used shoes will work. We just won't make the shipments 100% gently used. We'll mix and match for families.

sounds like a great idea... do they have to be new shoes? or can they be gently used. I see many newish shoes at resale shops & garage sales. You know how young children outgrow shoes.

Let me know and if not I will happily look for new items as well.

Boy, do I hear you. We have kindergarten registration for our two at the end of this month. I feel like we just arrived home with them from Kazakhstan. I am amazed that they are 5 and will soon be riding the bus. Yikes! They're definitely ready but I don't think that I am.

When I read the newsletter I immediately thought of knitting or crocheting hats, mittens, and scarves. I promptly borrowed a book to learn how to crochet from my neigbhor. As a bonus it teaches left handed!! Yay! Once I get the hang of it, I plan on making lots. I can't wait to do more.

I have a friend who did turned her work with Guatemalan orphanages into a non-profit. If you think it would be helpful, I can hook you 2 up (I do some work for the organization). One thing I know is that she didn't make her board local - they are scattered around the country and meet via Skype.
Good luck! I know it is a lot of work to get nonprofit status...but I also have no doubt you can do it.

And, I make them because my loved ones want them. Bacon chocolate bark for Abby, bacon truffles for hubby and others. Plus, it's just fun. :P

I didn't like the last batch either ... more like a bacon peanut butter cup. And I think I needed cream PB. This version has no bacon chunks. And at least one coworker has been nomming them all week. And I will drive them to you for a taste, silly. And again, no bacon chunks. ;)

I like salty and sweet together but I think this is a novelty that I might taste once and admit it isn't bad but never have any desire to eat again. My BFF sent me bacon caramel corn (made right here in TN lol). It tasted weird but in a not bad way that you kept eating it until...then I kind of wanted to throw up.
