To my husband

I have to take a moment to give my husband props. Over the past week this man has been super husband and super dad. He sat at the hospital while his wife had surgery. He sat by my side until he absolutely had to take the child back home. He comforted my son in the hospital when he was scared*. He got himself and the child up, ready, child off to school and himself to the hospital (20 minutes from our house) by 9:00 each day while I was there. He held my hand while I was crying. He woke me up every 5 minutes when I wasn’t breathing.

Since I’ve been home he’s done the laundry, cooked the meals, did the dishes, taken care of the child and me. He manages my medication. He fetches me things. He still holds my hand when I cry. He does it all without complaining.

I know he’s tired. I know he’s frustrated. I wish I could help.

I owe him so much for taking such good care of our family. I am so lucky to have a partner like him.

*Oleg wanted to come up to the hospital after my surgery to see me. It is part of his processing and we felt it would be fine. Little did we know how much pain I’d be in and that there would be complications. It really scared the little guy.
