Making me show my face in public

Public speaking has never been one of my fears.? Ok, if I don’t know the subject matter very well I fumble quite a bit and tend to not make much sense.? Kinda like this blog most days.? However, blogging is something I know a little bit about.

A few weeks ago Jen (there’s another damn Jen, we’ll have to fix that) at Tacoma Mama emailed me and asked if I wanted to be a panelist at the South Sound Technology Conference.? Being the ever vigilant reader whore, I thought sure!? That could possibly bring me a new reader or 2.? Little did I know that the conference wasn’t quite fully planned out and that I had the “opportunity” to help plan the event.? And even co-chaired by Representative Adam Smith and Congressman Norm Dicks.? And event involving some of the most well known Tacoma bloggers.? Frankly I’m honored that someone would think of me.? All I thought I did was write about poop, a screaming child and say shit a lot.

The theme of the event is basically how blogging has changed the face of today’s society.? They thought it nice to include parent bloggers as part of that.? We asked nicely if they wouldn’t call us mommybloggers.? So I guess that is how I got involved.

So tomorrow I’ll sit in a panel in front of a bunch of people and explain why I do what I do and that someone actually pays me to do it.? Crazy I know.? If you happen to be in the South Sound area tomorrow drop by Carwein Auditorium on the University of Washington Tacoma campus from 9-1.? The parenting bloggers will be on stage from 10:30-11:30.

Ooooh, I’m jealous. I wish someone would ask me to talk. Of course, that whole “undercover thing” would probably be blown.

Would love to be there. Can you pay for a emergency flight from Ann Arbor to Tacoma? No? Okay, then I’ll be thinking of you.
