As you know I loves me some curry.? It’s my comfort food.? I’m a little biased when it comes to my Indian food as Tacoma has one of the best joints in town.? Gateway’s food is not only excellent, their service is stellar and the owners make you feel like family.? What’s not to like.? They are child friendly (although lacking coloring material for the youngin’s).? But just down the road a new guy in town opened up a new shop and people seem to like it.? I’m jaded so I won’t try it.
Last night the trusty family spent the evening at the new 6th Avenue Farmer’s Market.? If you recall this happens to be the market in which I applied for the job.? At the time I was bitter that I didn’t get the job.? But as time went on I saw that it was ok.? The money would have been nice, but spending time with the boy and working on my own stuff has been very rewarding (and mildly lucrative).
I have to say I am quite impressed with the market.? The parking situation is far better than I originally anticipated and the vendor selection is fantastic.? We scored raspberries, nectarines, green onions, ground beef, and cheese from Estrellas (I’m drooling thinking about it).? We also had a nice dinner from, you guessed it, my favorite Indian place, Gateway.
The market is situated in an area of town with some of the best restaurants around.? The organizers of the market thought it best for this one to be light on the food vendors.? However, the funny thing is that the only two real prepared food vendors are Gateway to India and their competition, Bombay Bistro.? Even funnier, they situated the two booths right next to each other.? I’m half tempted to try Bombay next week for the heck of it.? But it will be my luck and CJ will be manning the booth instead of Surinder and he’ll see me.
I’m glad the market got off to a great start.? I had the pleasure of meeting the lady that beat me out of a job and she is a sweetheart.? Way to go Heather!? Things look good.
And in other odd news, evidently I’m working my way into the realm of recognizable.? I was sitting on a bench in front of E9 stuffing my pie hole with curry when someone walks up to me and says, “um, are you Elle?”? Acutally using the name Elle (which I find totally odd).? It was a reader I’d never met.? So here’s a shout out to you Sheelah!? Thanks for introducing yourself.? Loved the dress and totally wish I could pull something like that off.
