After the pediatrician visit on Monday I’ve become overly concerned about snot. Kid doc said that often times with croup kids will get a secondary infection. In other words, if his snot turns green come back in. So around Wednesday the boy was feeling better so we went outside. I’m working away in the garden and I turn around to see my child with streams of yellow snot running down his face. TMI? I pack up the kid and we head inside.
Right around this time my body decided to have a massive allergy attack. I can’t see why. Every surface in our state is covered with a fine yellow dust. Sidewalks, cars, plants, everything is yellow. I shut my car door and a puff of yellow dust flies into my face. Anyway…as always major allergy attacks turn into sickness for me. So now, I’m watching the boy to make sure his snot doesn’t turn green and watching my own to make sure that I don’t get a sinus infection. Good times. Good snotty times.
Then, the minute I stood up this morning I started coughing. This of course paralyzed me with fear of the trusty husband grabbing me and throwing my hacking body into the car and whisking me to the doctor’s office. Whatever would make me think he would do such a thing? Oh that’s right. Bronchitis 4 years in a row now. My fear of having to sit at the docs and having the doc hand me a script for yet another round of antibiotics finds me in the shower drying off and coughing like a maniac into the towel so the trusty husband might not notice that the snot is sliding south. Of course this doesn’t stop him from asking repeatedly if my lungs hurt yet. The first time I had bronchitis I walked around with it for about 2 weeks before I finally gave in and told him I was hacking up hard greens stuff. I hate doctors that much.
I do realize that I just wrote a post entirely centered around snot and sickness, but if I have to suffer you all should suffer with me. I think I may spend a good majority of my day laying on the couch with the laptop while watching kiddie movies in the background. Anyone wanna carry on an IM conversation?
Ever wanna discuss Poo then Im your girl…. we have come full circle with Poo issues in this household….
Hoping that all is well with you & the boy.. Mucus be gone
I hope you both are feeling better soon! I’d be up for IM, but I’m hoping my boy will go to sleep SOON and that Gretchen will stay asleep, and then I can get some sleep!!
Ugh. Bronchitis loves me, too. Sorry you’re both feeling badly. Hope it passes quickly!
Yes, I read this as I was eating a lunch of macaroni & cheese this afternoon. I had to quit reading, so I’m only now getting around to commenting. It’s funny that I lost my appetite while reading. Well, not funny. Maybe a little weird, but my appetite was gone nonetheless! 🙂
Oh…how I can’t wait to have my boy home! 🙂
By the time Oleg is grown you’ll have measured and looked at more snot then is incomprehensible to you now! Sorry!!!!!!!
Love you snotted up boogers,
Mom
Ah, didn’t phase me. In fact, I think I liked reading about snot. It’s a topic not yet tackled by the blogging community. It was…refreshing! But I gotta ask: how is everyone holding up today?
Nope, doesn’t bother me either. I hope you BOTH feel better. I couldn’t comment on your last posts, but that pic of him is SO friggin cute. And Clyde seems to like bananas every other week as well. Weird.
I just wrote a snot post too. Gotta love the cold and flu season!
I’ve caught my son’s cold, and it’s not fun! I hope you and the boy are both feeling better soon, and that further snot analysis is unnecessary.
