Sweet Hope

Welcome to Sweet Hope

Friday, September 5th, 2008 - Sweet Hope

Sweet Hope started as a personal fundraiser in February 2006. Our goal was to raise money to adopt our son from Russia. When we started our adoption journey, we did not have the money to finish. Though, somehow, throughout our adoption money was always available when we needed it. It came from savings, loans, grants, gifts and even fund-raisers.

Once our son was home we continued to get demands for the delicious truffles everyone had purchased.  We no longer needed to raise money for our own adoption, but knew there were plenty of families in our same situation.  We repeated the sales in December of 2006 and the proceeds were given to a family adopting a little girl from Bryansk, Russia.

More emails poured in asking for more candy.  We sold truffles again for Mother’s Day 2007.  The proceeds from those sales benefited a family adopting a little boy from Vladivostock, Russia.

We repeated our success in December 2007 with record sales.  Unfortunately, we did not have anyone apply for the funds so the balance went to pay off some of our own adoption debt.

In the year since we last made our truffles the vision of Sweet Hope has changed.  We understand there will always be families out there in need of extra money to complete adoptions, but at the same time there are also children who will never be adopted.

Children in institutional settings are often there because of medical conditions that prevent them from being adopted or they are considered too old for adoption.  Our focus this year is to raise awareness for older children and children with medical conditions in orphanages worldwide.  The Sweet Hope organization is attempting to raise funds to assist children in need.

We are also trying to raise the capital to create a documentary about the life of older and handicapped orphans in Russia.  We have the support of the Slavyanka Women’s Society in Khabarovsk, Russia.  We just need the money to get there to film the documentary.

Our truffles are hand made and only created once a year.  We hold a poll to vote on the year’s flavors at Life of Elle.  This year’s poll will begin November 3rd and end November 7th.  So along with your Presidential candidate, make your voice heard and vote for your favorite Sweet Hope Truffle.

Sales of truffles and caramels are now closed.  Thank you to everyone who ordered.  Your outpouring of support is amazing.  We raised over $2200 this year.  After purchasing the ingredients and packaging supplies it looks like we will be sending over $1600 to Baby Home #2.  There is still time to make a donation.  You can do so by visiting the order page.  We accept donations year round.  In order for your donation to make it to Khabarovsk this year we will need it by December 12th.

Remember all orders will ship December 12th… Just in time for Hanukkah and Christmas.
