From Russia, with love

Today is supposed to be a difficult day for us.? Three years later and I still have memories of my sweet Sasha.? I miss him terribly.? I’ve busied myself with preparing for our monthly wine club meeting, but every so often I stop and thing about what today is.

Amazing things happen when you least expect them.

I’ve been waiting on a package from my friend, Galina, for well over a month now.? She was supposed to send the receipts, photos and newspaper articles from our Sweet Hope project.? She sent them Russian Post so I’d long given up on the envelope ever showing up.? I opened up the mailbox to a wonderful surprise.? The envelope from Galina.

I don’t have the time to go over the whole thing, but there are photos of loads and loads of gifts and precious children who had a Merry Christmas.? All thanks to you.

All of the documentation is in Russian so I have to have it all translated, but I do know they purchased toys, treats and 2 nebulizers for Baby Home #2.? As soon as I have the translated copies back I’ll let you know what they say.? But as an added bonus there was an article about your efforts in 3 Khabarovsk newspapers.? Good job everyone!

All because of a young woman… a special young woman. Thus proving to the world, that yes… one person really can make a difference. I’m so very, very proud of you! =D

I can’t believe it’s been three years. That was such a painful time. My thoughts are with you guys on this difficult anniversary.

But I’m very happy to hear about the Sweet Hope Project. I am always happy to purchase loads of chocolates (and keep them all for myself) to help the kiddos over there.

    Sigh.

What a wonderful thing to happen on this day. I don’t think we’ll ever forget Sasha and Vika.
They were our children if only for a few moments in time.

I’m so glad you got this gift on this day.

  4. You do good things my friend!

hey you… I was hoping to see the photos, but I am either riding a short bus today or I just can’t seem to find them.

So very cool. Glad to hear that they were able to get so much done with your donation!

It must be hard to hold a child in your heart so closely and have this happen. It’s not exactly what happened to us, but we have children that we hold in our hearts that we just don’t know what their path ended up being.
You’ve done such a wonderful thing. Your mom is right to be so proud.

You did a great job, Elle! The fact that we got to eat some delicious chocolates while helping you achieve your goal was an added bonus. šŸ™‚
