Elle: working quietly at the computer trying to finish up church work

Boy: Mommy, that machine is broken.  You need to come fix it.

Elle: What machine?

Boy runs off.  Evidently I’m supposed to follow.  Pointing at his drum machine.

Boy: That drum machine.

Elle: Honey, that drum machine is broken.  I can’t fix it.

Boy: It needs new ba-ra-lies (batteries).  I’ll go get some.

Elle: no, it’s really broken.  New batteries won’t make it work (god’s honest truth)

Boy:  Nooo, it needs new batteries

Elle: Daddy just put new batteries in it and it still doesn’t work

Boy: Daddy needs to get new batteries.

Elle: No, I’m telling you, it is broken.  Batteries won’t help

Boy: Don’t ask me again.

I think I would have had to say something like don’t tell me again…our three year olds are hysterical…good times for memories.

When he stayed with us…out of nowhere, he’d spout, “Don’t tell me what to do.” Like it just popped in his little head…outa nowhere. He’s just too funny!
